JOURNALIST
WRITER
STORYTELLER
Hi, nice to meet you!
Do you have a story that's begging to be told? If so, you've come to the right place!

My name is Kallie Cox. I've worked as a professional journalist for the past three years and have reported on a wide range of topics, from police accountability and abortion access, to features about drag queens, pastors, and a non-profit advocating for psychedelic therapy.

I am more than just a journalist; I'm a storyteller. I have a knack for uncovering unique stories and issues and pursuing them relentlessly. My writing style allows me to capture these narratives and present them in a voice that is both accessible and distinctive.

My reporting experiences so far include crossing the U.S.-Mexico border from El Paso, Texas, to Ciudad Juárez, Mexico on foot to interview LGBTQ+ asylum seekers; collaborating with a team of other journalists to investigate police misconduct at a system-wide level, involving the filing of dozens of FOIA requests in the process; leading a newsroom of student journalists through the height of the COVID-19 pandemic; and investigating the decade-long incarceration of a man who was never put on trial for a cold case murder he may not have even committed.

Through my experiences, I've acquired the skills to investigate datasets, file public records requests, identify
inequities, and conduct long-term investigations. Most importantly, I've learned how to listen to the stories that were hardest for others to tell.

In addition to my work as a journalist, I possess the skills to freelance in the corporate and non-profit sectors, write content for blogs and websites, edit and fact-check sensitive material, and produce compelling content.

I invite you to read some of my stories and reach out to me with any questions you may have. If you have a story idea or project you'd like to collaborate on, please head over to my contact page and send me an email.

Incredibly in-depth 18-month report digs deep into the legal roadblocks to police accountability.
Editor & Publisher’s Magazine’s EPPY award judges in 2022 where "Roadblocks to Police Accountability" one two first place awards
Kallie’s thorough examination of police conduct required great attention to detail and dogged pursuit of the facts. It is very clear the hours of work that Kallie invested into sifting through legal documents, filing FOIA requests, and creating an analysis of what was discovered. It’s not always easy to deep-dive into issues of this magnitude as a student, but Kallie’s passion for journalism shines through.
